Perth & Kinross Ladies Cricket

Ladies cricket starts on Jan 8th @ Craigclowan School in Perth from 7:15pm -9:15pm, these will run every Thursday until end March jointly with Kinross cc ladies section. So if you know of ladies at your club that have played a bit of hardball cricket and are 12+ year of age and are wanting to give it a go please tell them to come down. If we get a good turn out of ladies from other clubs around Perth and Kinross we would then look at running a P&K Ladies squad.

Fitness Testing

We held Fitness Testing for the Under 14 Perth and Kinross Cricket Development Squad yesterday afternoon at Perth Academy. Jamie Yellowlees showed up very well and came first in the toughest task – the dreaded Bleep Test. These lunchtime fitness sessions with Gavin at the Aberfeldy Leisure Centre are clearly paying off. Well done to Jamie – keep up the good work.

Development Squads

Congratulations to Joe Grace, Robert Thomson, Graham Smith, Jamie Yellowlees, Ross Tait and Andrew Ross. These six boys from Highland Perthshire have been selected for places in the Perth & Kinross Development Squads. The Development Squads train throughout the winter months at Perth Academy in order to prepare them for the coming season and representing Perth & Kinross in District matches.

A special congratulations goes to Andrew Ross who has been put forward to go and practice with the Tayside & Fife Regional Academy in Dundee - we hope it goes well. The very best players from this group then have a chance of possibly being selected for Scotland if they continue to do well in the practice sessions and the trial matches. Good luck Andrew!

Winter Approaching

Some of you might be wondering what a Cricket Development Officer gets up to during the chilly winter months. Well apart from planning for next year last week I was down in Cardiff re-doing my Level 3 Coaching Award. It was a really busy week. Cricket keeps moving forward and developing so you have to stay in touch with new ideas and practices - some of which I’ll try out with you guys next summer!
